Biography
Graduating from New York Community College, majoring in Art and Advertising Design, Debbie worked in in the fashion industry as a freelance fashion illustrator, freelance embroidery sketcher, fashion coordinator/stylist for Lina Lee, and sales associate for La Marca shoes where she also showcased her own hand painted women’s tee shirts.Tired of the hustle and bustle city life, Debbie moved to Santa Fe, NM and opened her own studio/gallery Which was very successful for 20 years. Then off to Denver, CO where she worked at Nordstrom and Anatomie popup women travel wear clothes. She continued to do art shows throughout Denver and the roaring fork valley and fell in love with the beauty of Basalt,CO To expand her creative experiences, Debbie moved from Denver to Basalt, CO and continues to do art shows.
Debbie’s goal is the nourishment of the emotional self through sheer beauty and the appeal of nature. She paints forms with color, replacing firm outlines and smooth surfaces with patches of color and thick impasto. Gold paints what she sees, stressing freshness of tonal modeling to produce velvety textures, clarity of high key effects, and spontaneity in brush and knife strokes. Debbie paints the essential character of what she sees and has fascination with the momentary quality of illumination.
